Bio

Dave Burke is a recognised expert in next-generation interactive voice and video response systems. Dave is author of "Speech Processing for IP Networks: Media Resource Control Protocol", published by Wiley. Dave is a long standing contributor to the W3C's Voice Browser Working Group (which developed the VoiceXML family of specifications) and the IETF SpeechSC Working Group (which developed the MRCPv2 protocol) and is an editor of the VoiceXML 2.1 and Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition specifications.

Dave has written several papers in leading academic journals and conferences and is a regular speaker at international speech conferences. Dave holds a Ph.D., M.Eng.Sc., and B.E. in Electronic Engineering, all from University College Dublin, Belfield, Ireland.

Dave is an engineering manager at Google, working in the mobile space. Prior to that, Dave was Chief Technology Officer at Voxpilot, where he directed the company from startup to a leading position in next-generation interactive voice and video response systems.
